Rapper Half Ounce shot and killed in drive-by shooting while walking home

Rapper Half Ounce was shot and killed as he walked home in LA on Monday evening, his family has told local news media.

The 32-year-old artist, born Latauriisha O'Brien, had been walking with a friend at around 11.30pm in Koreatown when an SUV pulled up and began firing, Fox LA reported.

The LA Police Department reported receiving "numerous radio calls of shots fired, with a man screaming, in the 700 block of South New Hampshire Avenue".

According to authorities, he had been on the phone with his pregnant wife at the time, who had heard the gunshots and ran to the scene.

He had been a dad to an eight-year-old daughter, two-year-old son and nine-month-old son.
