Through two weeks of the 2023 NFL season, two teams have separated themselves from the rest of the herd in a definitive way. Yesterday we dropped our league-wide power rankings going into Week 3 and had the Dallas Cowboys on top, followed by a close-second San Francisco 49ers. Not only do Dallas and San Francisco have two of the best defenses in the league this year, they’re also getting great work at quarterback.
Throughout the season we will be examining QB production from a number of different angles, picking a new stat every week to rank all 32 starters. Last week we chose Pro Football Focus grades, which had Tua Tagovailoa on top. This time around we’re going with ESPN’s QBR stat, where right now Brock Purdy and Dak Prescott are the league leaders.
