Rangers v St Johnstone team news as Todd Cantwell in starting line-up with Ianis Hagi back

Rangers are back at Ibrox after three away games in three different competitions with Michael Beale seeking three precious Premiership point - and the big news is that Todd Cantwell starts.

With Celtic, who hold a nine-point lead, not playing until Sunday, it's an opportunity for the Light Blues to apply a little bit of pressure ahead of the Hoops' trip to Tannadice to take on Dundee United.

Beale has won all of his league matches so far - apart from the January 2 draw with the champions - and he knows he simply has to maintain this momentum and simply hope for a slip somewhere by Ange Postecoglou's side who don't really look like doing so on current form.

The big call is that new signing Todd Cantwell goes straight into the starting line-up despite not playing for Norwich City since November. He replaces Fashion Sakala who moves to the bench.

Beale is starting to get more choice in his squad with injured players beginning to fully recover and one of them, Ianis Hagi, is back for the first time in a year as he re-joins the group following knee surgery and a very long and demanding rehabilitation.

John Lundstram is also rested with Glen Kamara coming in to partner Ryan Jack.

RANGERS: McGregor; Tavernier, Goldson, Davies, Barisic; Jack , Kamara; Cantwell, Tillman, Kent; Morelos.

SUBS: McLaughlin, Lundstram, Hagi, Colak, Sands, Wright, Sakala, Arfield, Devine

Former Rangers striker Nicky Clark comes back into the Saints' starting line-up with Stevie May - who has just signed a new contract - moving to the bench.

ST JOHNSTONE: Matthews, Brown, Gordon, Considine, Montgomery, Wright, MacPherson, Hallberg, Phillips, McLennan, Clark.

Subs: Parish, Mitchell, Wotherspoon, Crawford, Carey, Bair, May, Murphy, O’Halloran.
