Rangers' US partner club get rebrand as American side set for bright new future

Rangers US-based partner club have been given an Ibrox-style makeover as part of a rebranding inspired by the Premiership champions.

Oklahoma Energy FC have been renamed Oklahoma Rangers FC after linking up with the Glasgow side’s international youth academy last year.

The two-way agreement will allow coaches to share youth development plans and training styles across the Atlantic, with the US-based club already providing a platform for 400 youngsters to take their first steps into the game.

Rangers fan Danny Gibson, who serves as the American outfit’s director of coaching announced the news on Twitter, joking that his influence on the rebrand was easy to see.

He added: “The overwhelming emotion with this announcement is one of excitement, it represents a clean slate, a blank canvas and endless opportunities.

“The name obviously has my influence all over it. I certainly suggested it, but many others voted to approve. It’s a strong name and represents strength, unity and an unrelenting pursuit of success.

“So much work still to be done but delighted at the direction of the programme. The right people in place, the infrastructure coming together and the opportunity to set things right for youth soccer in our communities.”

He signed off: “On to the next chapter: Oklahoma Rangers.”

The Ibrox side also have a partnership with USL side Orange County SC, which has seen a number of the Glasgow outfit’s young talents boost their prospects abroad.
