Rangers transfer news roundup as Jose Cifuentes announcement timeline emerges and Glen Kamara fee 'revealed'

With a new-look attack secured, midfield looks to be the priority for Michael Beale now and it could be a case of one in, one out in the days ahead.

Jose Cifuentes is the man Rangers want to bolster their engine room and it has long since looked like a move to Ibrox from MLS has been on the cards. His social media activity has frequently backed up reports suggesting he is Beale's top midfield target and it now looks as if he could be the next player in the door after deals for Cyriel Dessers and Abdallah Sima.

He's a key player for LAFC but may have played his final game for them in Wednesday's LA derby. According to Mercado Futbol in South America, that deal has now been 'confirmed' and is expected to be announced imminently. Reports over a fee have varied but with the 24-year-old's deal up in December, the initial outlay is expected to be around the £1m mark.

His arrival could be timed nicely for Beale as out-of-favour Glen Kamara looks to be heading in the other direction. A key player under predecessor Gio van Bronckhorst, he's started just one league game since January and has been heavily-linked with Besiktas, potentially joining Ryan Kent in Turkey.

Reports earlier in the week indicated they wanted to sign him on an initial loan and that is a plausible option with Kamara's contract still having two years to run. The tune has changed though as Fanatik say they want to sign him permanently, however are only prepared to pay a maximum of €2.5m (£2.1m). That's likely to be a sticking point if true with Rangers thought to be expecting at least double that for the 27-year-old.

Elsewhere Cyriel Dessers is the latest attacker to boost Beale's forward line and with Abdallah Sima and Sam Lammers already in the door, the Ibrox forward line is taking on a completely different look. Speaking after his signing was finally announced late on Thursday evening, he revealed Leon Balogun - an international teammate with Nigeria - sold him on the transfer.

And now Balogun and fellow Rangers alumni Calvin Bassey have taken to social media to welcome him to the club. Replying to an image of him in Rangers colours, Bassey wrote "Yes my boy" while Balogun replied, "Love to see that bro!! WATP."
