Rangers transfer bulletin as Kieran Dowell 'fitness' factor sparks Norwich pause and Jose Cifuentes opens Ibrox door

It's set to be a busy summer for Rangers and Michael Beale looks to be keen to get some new faces in the door as soon as possible.

With the prospect of mass exodus on the cards at Ibrox this summer, Beale has held face-to-face talks with potential signings in recent weeks as he weighs up what is next with key figures at the Light Blues including Alfredo Morelos, Allan McGregor and Ryan Kent all rapidly approaching the end of their current contracts. The Ibrox boss will have to refresh the squad as he looks to catch Celtic next season and a name that has emerged near the top of the agenda is Norwich City star Kieran Dowell.

Boss David Wagner has admitted a contract offer for the 25-year-old have been put on hold until he proves his fitness - leaving the door open for a potential move to Rangers when he becomes a free agent in the summer. Dowell has been on the sidelines since February after picking up a knee injury, but had been a regular in Wagner's side before the knock.

Wagner said: “We are smart enough to know that wherever we will be next season we have to refresh, and we will refresh this group. This is not a shadow of a doubt.

"What does it exactly mean? We will see, but that it is necessary after the recent seasons is clear and obvious. This is what we will do, and we have done some of the first steps. There are a lot of things going on behind the scenes.

“Kieran, we are in conversation. The most important thing is now that he gets back to fitness. Then we will see."

Los Angeles FC midfielder Jose Cifuentes has also been touted with a move to Ibrox - and has left the door open to a move to the Scottish Premiership. The Ecuador international has admitted he is keen on a move away from MLS to challenge himself in Europe as he approaches the final months of his contract.

Asked by Zona Deportiva about his hopes of a move to European football, he replied: “Yes, it is a wish. I do not see it as much as an ambition, it is something I dreamed of as a child.

“If I left (last December) or this summer, I will take it in the best way. I think the club knows, and I have discussed it with them. Now, I am here.

"And I am focused on having a great season. We don’t know what will happen in the summer. Right now, I have a responsibility here with my team. I feel calm. And I think you know that, while I am here, I will give everything.”
