Rangers transfer bulletin as Glen Kamara exit route reopens and what Lammers move means for Ianis Hagi

It seems there’s a new Rangers transfer update most days since the season ended.

Michael Beale has been a busy boy as he rebuilds his squad, trying to get it ready to take on a now Ange Postecoglou-less Celtic in the title race. There’s also the Champions League qualifiers to negotiate if they want to give a better showing of themselves in the group stage following a record breakingly bad display last season, which failed to muster a single point over six games.

Kieran Dowell, Dujon Sterling and Jack Butland have already signed on, but there’s more business to be done at Ibrox, including some long-serving stars heading for the exit door as well. Allan McGregor, Alfredo Morelos, Filip Helander and Scott Arfield were all released after their contracts expired, but Beale may move on those still tied down to free up some space in his squad and bring in some revenue at the same time.

Record Sport has all the latest on the comings and goings in Govan.

Rennes back in for Glen

Glen Kamara has found gametime harder and harder to come by at Rangers over the last 18 months or so. The Finn was a big part of the title winning squad in 2021, but Michael Beale’s return has not seen him restored as a regular starter. Injuries have played their part, but the Gers boss admitted that this summer might be time for a parting of the ways.

Stade Rennes had a £4million bid rejected last January. But the Ligue 1 side are set to return with a similar offer this summer, according to the Mail on Sunday, and the club are unlikely to knock them back a second time.

Ianis must impress

After over a year out with a knee injury, Ianis Hagi is understandably still working his way back to peak condition. However, with a £3.5million deal for Atalanta forward Sam Lammers expected to be completed this week, the Romanian may find himself down the pecking order.

He’ll get a chance to stake his claim over pre-season. But it may make good business sense to sell up if he’s not going to feature as much. No doubt dad Gheorghe will be drumming up some interest publicly before too long.

Panzo next

Beale is sticking to what he knows and former Chelsea youth Joanthan Panzo will be next to arrive. Record Sport exclusively revealed that he is nearing a £2.5million switch from Nottingham Forest after spending last season on loan at Coventry City. He’ll add more cover in the centre of defence.

Cifuentes keen

It may be taking longer than expected, but Jose Cifuentes wants his move to Rangers. The LAFC star is out of contract in January but both player and club are keen for the move to happen this summer. Talks are also ongoing with Cremonese over striker Cyriel Dessers. The Nigerian could be part of a double Serie A swoop alongside Lammers. But there is a bit more negotiating to be done on that one compared to the Dutchman.
