Rangers have "stepped up" their pursuit of Hampus Skoglund as they intensify their search for a long-term replacement for James Tavernier.
According to a new report, the Ibrox side have now held direct talks with the Hammarby defender’s representatives, signalling a significant escalation in their interest as they look to strengthen at right-back.
Rangers News has reported that Skoglund had already been identified as a key target in May, with the 20-year-old included on a shortlist of options following Tavernier’s departure at the end of the season.

Discussions between the club and Skoglund’s camp have taken place on more than one occasion, underlining the seriousness of their pursuit as they look to secure a deal ahead of the new campaign.
Despite being under contract with Hammarby until 2029 after signing a new deal last year, there is confidence within Ibrox that a move to Scotland could be agreed.
With interest from elsewhere also expected, Rangers have moved quickly to open dialogue as they aim to win the race for the highly-rated full-back.
Skoglund recently addressed speculation over his future, admitting that interest from abroad is “fun” but confirming that he is leaving any potential transfer decisions in the hands of his representatives.
