Rangers star James Tavernier handed 'wand of a right foot' praise as free-kick branded 'ridiculous'

Livingston No1 Shamal George has branded James Tavernier's free-kick as ridiculous and admitted he's got a 'wand of a right foot'.

The Rangers skipper has now fired two free-kicks beyond the Lions stopper this campaign with his SPFL rival branding him one of the best in the league from dead-ball situations. He opened his tally for the day from the penalty spot before adding double punishment to David Martindale's side who had just been reduced to ten men.

Michael Beale maintained his unbeaten record as Rangers boss with a 3-0 win at the Tony Macaroni Arena to remain nine points behind Celtic in the race for the Premiership crown - with the champions running out big 4-0 winners over Aberdeen at Parkhead. It's been a big weekend for the Ibrox skipper who was also inducted in to Rangers' Hall of Fame alongside Allan McGregor and Steven Davis and his counterpart has now lauded the full-back over his strike in West Lothian.

The Livi No.1 said: “He’s done it twice now against me with two free-kicks. Ridiculous. That’s why he’s one of the best with dead-balls in the league.

“I can’t really explain how good he is. The manager spoke to us before the game. You’ve also got Borna Barisic – with the left foot – then Tavernier who’s got a wand of a right foot.

“So, there’s danger all over the pitch against Rangers. It’s a tough one to take.

“I stood in the middle of the goal to cover each side and he still put it in the top corner. You can’t do much about that.

"You can’t properly explain how good the free-kick was. You take your hat off to him – he’s a great player.”
