Rangers squad revealed as Ben Davies and 3 other summer recruits looks to emerge from Ibrox cold storage

Despite the defeat to Napoli in the Champions League group stage, Gio van Bronckhorst will have taken plenty of positives from Rangers clash with the Serie A leaders.

The Ibrox side are on a run of three defeats in a row, having conceded 11 goals without reply but the Dutchman will have been pleased with the showing before James Sands was shown a red card in the second half. The boss returned to The Light Blues old guard in midweek, with no summer signings receiving the call in the starting line-up with Alfredo Morelos, Scott Arfield and Ryan Jack among the players given the nod.

With the Scottish Premiership's rock bottom side Dundee United travelling to Govan, the Ibrox boss now faces a big call on if he sticks with the side who impressed against the Italians or recalls some of his summer recruits. Ben Davies will be one who is hoping to ramp up his minutes.

The centre-back has managed just one start so far since arriving from Liverpool despite returning to training at Auchenhowie, but could be given a chance to prove his fitness against Liam Fox's side. However, Van Bronckhorst has shown his faith in both James Sands and Leon King in recent weeks and both will hope to make the XI.

Antonio Colak enjoyed a bright start to his Ibrox career, netting seven goals so far, but struggled to find his feet against Ajax and Celtic sparking a recall for Alfredo Morelos. The Croat will hope for a second chance to prove himself but the Colombian is in dire need of game time to ramp up his match fitness.

Jack and Arfield led the midfield reshuffle in midweek, but Van Bronckhorst will look to play a more offensive game against United. Malik Tillman could come in, while Rabbi Matondo will hope to show what he is capable of having been used sparingly so far this term.

Goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin remains on the sidelines after missing Napoli's visit to Ibrox, with Allan McGregor set ti keep his place between the sticks. Robby McCrorie will act as back up with veteran McGregor impressing in midweek after two penalty saves.

Van Bronckhorst will also be missing Tom Lawrence, who was unlikely to make his first-team return until after the international break. Long-term absentees Alex Lowry, John Souttar, Kemar Roofe, Filip Helander and Ianis Hagi all remain on the sidelines.
