Rangers predicted XI as all signs point to '3-5-2' with a twist against Red Star and John Lundstram is key

Rangers boss Gio van Bronckhorst is facing a major tactical call ahead of the crunch clash with Red Star Belgrade.

The Dutchman knows the 3-5-2 moment of inspiration to sink Borussia Dortmund works but is it the right formation to take on the Serbs?

Rangers supporters are on tenterhooks ahead of the Europa League last 16 clash as they look to follow up their thrilling 6-4 aggregate win over Borussia Dortmund.

And John Lundstram, much maligned earlier in the season, will be pivotal either as part of a back three or in the heart of the midfield alongside Ryan Jack.

There's a compelling case for Scott Arfield, often the energiser bunny element on Euro nights, to start but Jack and Glen Kamara would offer a solid base if they go 3-5-2.

And that would give Joe Aribo a chance to get back to his best further up the pitch to help out Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos.

Predicted Rangers XI

Van Bronckhorst has options but the temptation to go with the same formation that befuddled the Germans will be too much to turn down.

Rangers had total control over Dortmund and adding an extra player to the backline could reap rewards again against Red Star Belgrade.

Rangers face Belgrade in the return leg on March 17 as they aim to reach the last eight of a European tournament for the first time in 14 years.
