Rangers player ratings as emotional night at Ibrox ends in a defeat against Napoli

Rangers player ratings as emotional night at Ibrox ends in defeat against Napoli

Allan McGregor 8

Made a great save 17 minutes in. His distribution was consistent. He made a brilliant save from the initial penalty but was judged to have moved off his line. Remarkably he saved the second attempt as well. He was ultimately beaten by another strike from the spot later on. The other two goals conceded were not his fault.

Borna Barisic 6

Always offered an option forward, however, was found wanting defensively a few times. This included giving away the penalty, which started the Napoli goal spree.

Connor Goldston 7

It was a solid night from the defender which included a couple brilliant blocks from set pieces. It could have been a more significant scoreline had he not performed so well.

James Sands 5

The American was sent off and gave away a penalty in the second half. He was unlucky but it was a clear foul in the box and he was given his marching orders after receiving a second yellow card.

James Tavernier 6

The captain was unable to affect the game as much as usual. He did not get many chances to put the ball in the box and when he did there was a lack of quality behind them.

Steven Davis 6

He made a few good passes and won a few free kicks, which broke up the game. However, he was quiet overall.

John Lundstram 6

Made some crucial interceptions at times but was unable to offer that much going forward. He did curb a few Napoli attacks.

Ryan Jack 7

Did the dirty work as he always does and always made himself available for a pass. Was ultimately subbed for Leon King, but he put in a solid performance.

Scott Arfield 7

He had what would have been a wonder goal saved from the keeper in the first half. He never stopped running and always looked to get forward but had to drop back after the red card. Was subbed for Matondo

Ryan Kent 6

Was excellent in the first half but dipped a bit in the second 45. Did provide an out ball at times but looked a bit lost in the second half.

Alfredo Morelos 6

Had a golden chance right at the start, which he should have scored. Was lucky not to be sent off while on a yellow card before ultimately being subbed.

Substitutes

Leon King (for Jack, 63) 4

The youngster was unable to have much of an impact on the match. He was fine but not involved much.

Antonio Colak (for Morelos, 72) 3

Another who did not offer much. Had no service when he came on in all fairness

Rabbi Matondo (for Arfield, 72) 3

Was unable to offer anything going forward and was very quiet.

Malik Tillman (for Davis, 82) 2

He was also quiet.

Glen Kamara (for Tavernier, 82) 2

Lost the ball for the third goal, which was all he was involved in during the match.
