Rangers line-up vs Motherwell revealed as Steven Gerrard names strong side

Steven Gerrard has named the Rangers side which will take on Motherwell in tonight's friendly at Ibrox.

Alfredo Morelos returns to lead the line while Ianis Hagi and Ryan Kent will be in support as the Gers return to Govan for the first time since facing Bayer Leverkusen prior to the COVID-19 Scottish football shutdown.

The match was initially due to take place at 6pm but kick-off was delayed two hours as the clubs were awaiting the results of their coronavirus tests.

The full Rangers XI is as follows: McLaughlin, Tavernier, Edmundson, Goldson, Barisic Hagi, Jack, Kent, Aribo, Kamara, Morelos

Bench: Firth, Bassey, Before, Davis, Murphy, Barker, Barjonas, Arfield, Maxwell

Rangers are fresh from a positive pre-season trip to France where they defeated Ligue One sides Nice and Lyon to win the Trophee Veolia.

And Gerrard will no doubt be looking for his side to continue their good work against a more familiar opponent.

With the new league campaign just over a week away Rangers will be using the Motherwell clash, along with the weekend's fixture with Coventry City, as perfect preparation for their trip to Pittodrie on August 1.

Motherwell have included on-loan Rangers man Jake Hastie in their team. Their line-up is as follows: Carson, Grimshaw, McGinley, Lamie, Donnelly, O'Hara, Campbell, Polworth, Hastie, Long, White.

Subs: Fox, Gallagher, Hussain, Mugabi, Johnston, Maguire, Cornelius, Turnbull, Semple, Seedorf, Hylton, Robinson, MacIver, Watt.

Earlier today a Rangers B team lost 4-1 to a full-strength Dundee United side at the club's training centre.
