Rangers line up v Motherwell revealed as Steven Gerrard makes five changes after St Mirren defeat

The Rangers team to face Motherwell this afternoon has been named.

The hosts can open up a 16 point gap over Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table with a win, and Steven Gerrard is keen they try to make amends for the midweek Betfred Cup exit against St Mirren.

In order to ensure there's no repeat, the Ibrox boss has made five changes to the team that started in Paisley.

Leon Balogun is unavailable as he adheres to concussion protocols after a head knock forced him off in midweek. Filip Helander takes his place at centre back.

Calvin Bassey loses his spot at left back as Borna Barisic returns to the starting line up.

Steven Davis and Glen Kamara are handed midfield starting berths after coming off the bench against The Buddies, with Bongani Zungu and Joe Aribo are dropped.

Up front, Jermain Defoe is in from the start as Cedric Itten drops back to the bench after Wednesday.

Rangers XI: McGregor, Tavernier, Goldson, Helander, Barisic, Kamara, Davis, Arfield, Kent, Roofe, Defoe.
