Rangers’ Jacob deGrom will make scheduled start versus Oakland on Sunday: ‘Full go’

ARLINGTON, Texas — Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jacob deGrom will make his Sunday start versus the Oakland Athletics, manager Bruce Bochy said Saturday.

“Full go,” Bochy said.

DeGrom, who left his Monday start against the Kansas City Royals with wrist soreness, threw a regularly-scheduled bullpen on Friday and had no residual soreness. Bochy said that while they’ll keep an eye on deGrom, the two-time Cy Young winner won’t have any limitations on Sunday. If the same injury were to flare back up, Bochy said, the team would likely proceed with caution as it did in his last start.

The 34-year-old had pitched a no-hitter through four innings against the Royals before the Rangers pulled him.

“He said he feels fine and he’s ready to go,” Bochy said. “[If he wasn’t] he wouldn’t be pitching.”

DeGrom, through four starts with Texas, has a 3.48 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 20 2/3 innings pitched.
