Rangers' intentions on Jose Cifuentes made clear amid transfer interest

Rangers would prefer to sell Jose Cifuentes instead of sending him on another loan.

The midfielder is back at Ibrox after a loan spell in Greece with Aris Thessaloniki last season. He had previously made the temporary switch to Cruzeiro in Brazil.

Reports have suggested that another Brazilian side, Sport Recife, are now interested in taking the 26-year-old on loan.

However, Rangers are not prepared to sanction another loan exit for the Ecuador international and would rather do a deal too move him in permanently, reports the Rangers Review.

Clubs in Europe and America have made contact over the player this summer. He previously played in MLS with Los Angeles FC.

Cifuentes still has two years left on the long-term deal he signed when Michael Beale brought him in and promised he would be a difference maker.

Russell Martin has brought in midfielders Joe Rothwell and Thelo Aasgaard this summer and they will compete with Nico Raskin, Mohamed Diomande, Lyall Cameron, Kieran Dowell, Connor Barron and Bailey Rice for a spot in midfield.
