Rangers hit with second Europa League sectarianism rap as UEFA order 3000 Ibrox seats closed

Rangers have again been ordered to close off a section of Ibrox for their next Europa League clash.

UEFA have dished out a second punishment to the club, finding fans guilty of racist behaviour following sectarian singing during the play off first leg against Legia Warsaw in Poland.

Rangers will now have to close off another 3000 seats, set to be in their first group stage clash.

We told on Wednesday night how UEFA were investigating bigoted chants during the 0-0 draw at the Polish Army Stadium on August 22.

And the governing body have decided on an identical punishment to that issued following the same offence in an earlier tie against St Joseph's in July.

A UEFA statement said: "The Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has decided to order a partial closure of the Rangers FC stadium during the next one (1) UEFA competition match in which Rangers FC will play as the host club, for the racist behaviour of its supporters.

"Rangers FC shall inform UEFA of the sector(s) to be closed, which shall at least comprehend 3,000 seats. The Scottish club is ordered to display a banner with the wording “#EqualGame”, with the UEFA logo on it."
