Forgotten ex-Rangers flop Mateusz Zukowski is on a high after making his Poland debut and being on the brink of a big money move to Bundesliga giants Eintracht Frankfurt.

Rangers signed him as a 20-year-old in a £400,000 deal from Lechia Gdansk and handed him a four-year deal in January 2022.

He was signed as a right back and Zukowski made a solitary appearance for Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side in a Scottish Cup win against Annan Athletic. but wasn't seen again.

Zukowski was initially sent on loan to Lech Poznan, but they declined to turn the move into a permanent deal and he was eventually allowed to leave for a nominal fee to Slask Wroclaw.

But last year he won a move to German second tier side FC Magdeburg and was converted to a striker.

He netted 17 goals in just 22 starts this season and was rewarded with a call-up for Poland, where he just made his debut against Ukraine.

Zukowski looks set to clinch a move to Eintracht Frankfurt and he admits he's pinching himself.

He said: "My career is certainly heading in the right direction and I hope it continues.

"The season has been amazing for me and I have really enjoyed it. Perhaps I could even have scored more goals.

"And then to make my debut for Poland was a very proud moment for me. I hope I will get more opportunities in the future.

"As a child, my dream was to play for my country and I have done that now."
