Rangers fan group Union Bears announce Celtic send off plans for derby clash

Rangers fan group the Union Bears have announced plans to send the team off from Ibrox on Saturday ahead of their huge derby showdown against Celtic.

Scotland's top two go head to head at Celtic Park on December 30 with the title race well and truly in the balance.

Brendan Rodgers' Celts are currently five points ahead in the Premiership, but Rangers have two games in hand, with both set to take place in the new year.

The match is set up nicely heading into the weekend, but if Rangers are to get a result they will have to do so without any away supporters.

The Ibrox club confirmed their request to Celtic and the SPFL for an allocation for the fixture was knocked back last week.

As a result, ultra group the Union Bears will give their team a send-off from Ibrox in the hope it will give the team a boost as they head to enemy territory.

A tweet shared the simple message "See them march on" while also confirming the meet time of 10am at Ibrox on Saturday.

Ahead of Saturday's match, Rangers have had their fixture against Ross County postponed tonight.

The Ibrox club saw their home game against County called off about 1.30pm on Wednesday as snow prevented the visitors travelling down the A9.

A Scottish Professional Football League statement confirmed Rangers’ game was called off “following consultation with Police Scotland regarding today’s weather conditions on the A9”.

A Rangers statement added: “Despite the Ibrox playing surface being in good condition and ready to host the match, adverse weather conditions on the A9 means our visitors have been unable to reach Glasgow.”

The postponement means Rangers will go into Saturday’s derby at Celtic Park five points behind the leaders with two games in hand, and with extra time to prepare after Brendan Rodgers’ side beat Dundee on Boxing Day.
