Rangers appeal Covid Five bans as Ibrox side looks to challenge SFA verdict

Rangers have appealed the six game bans handed out to the Covid Five.

First team trio Bongani Zungu, Nathan Patterson, Calvin Bassey and kids Dapo Mebude and Brian Kinnear were given six match suspensions earlier in the week.

The stars will miss four games as two of the matches are suspended.

The bans starting with Sunday's Scottish Cup match against Cove Rangers and will also take in a tricky league encounter with third placed Hibs.

The players were caught at a party in breach of coronavirus regulations and were hit with the stern punishment having also been disciplined internally by the club.

But Rangers clearly feel there is a case to be heard for a less stringent decision and the SFA's has confirmed the Ibrox club will appeal.

A message regarding the decision read: "Determinations being appealed. Appeals Hearing date to be confirmed. "

Rangers stars Jordan Jones and George Edmundson were given 7-game suspensions for Covid breaches earlier this season.
