Ranger injury update as Ryan Jack return delayed despite optimistic verdict

Midfielder Ryan Jack is set to miss out again as Rangers visit Ross County.

Ibrox boss Steven Gerrard admitted on Wednesday the 28-year-old had a "good chance" of returning to the fold for Sunday's Premiership clash.

Jack picked up an injury during his side's 4-0 win over Aberdeen on November 22 and has missed Rangers' last three fixtures.

And now Gerrard's optimistic midweek assessment hasn't quite materialised.

The manager said: " Ryan Jack is unlikely to be available for the weekend. Everyone else should be fine, a few minor knocks but should all make it."

Rangers twice came from behind on Thursday night to secure passage to the Europa League last 32.

Scott Arfield's second-half winner sickened Standard Liege and fired Gerrard's side into the knockout stage.

And Gerrard, who was named October's Premiership Manager of the Month, admitted his pride in securing back to back qualifications.

He said: "We knew before the game it would be a huge achievement to qualify for a second year. It comes with financial gain but more importantly makes our fans happy. We want to go and top the group and end with another three points.

"We have done ever so well from the first day in Europe. It is an achievement that the staff & players are very proud of. You are never out of sight at this level and games are tough for the full 90 minutes and max out physically and mentally. It hasn't been easy for sure."
