Rams select Wisconsin OL David Edwards with 169th pick in draft

The Los Angeles Rams stood pat at No. 169 and selected Wisconsin offensive lineman David Edwards in the fifth round of the draft. They add another O-lineman to the roster after taking Bobby Evans in the third round on Friday night.

Edwards is a big offensive tackle, standing 6-foot-6, 308 pounds. He was projected to be a fifth-round pick by NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein, so the Rams got solid value with him at No. 169 overall.

He was a three-year starter at Wisconsin, which has become a factory for NFL offensive linemen, playing exclusively at right tackle. He’s a good athlete, having played quarterback and tight end in high school.

Edwards displayed unmatched toughness last season, starting 10 games for the Badgers despite suffering a shoulder injury before the year began. He earned second-team All-Big Ten honors in 2018.
