Ram raid on jewellers goes horribly wrong as driver reverses into accomplice

Dramatic CCTV footage has captured the moment a robbery on a jewellers goes horribly wrong when a ram raider reverses into his accomplice.

Kieran Marshall was behind the wheel of a red Ford Ranger 4x4 when he drove into the front of Hyman’s Jewellers, in Call Lane, Leeds on October 25, 2017, Leeds Live report.

His accomplice, John Kitchen, ran in soon after with a large hammer, but he wasn't prepared for what happens next.

Marshall spotted the shop’s security shutter closing and reversed in to block it. Little did he know that in doing so he knocked Kitchen down in an attempt to avoid him being trapped.

The footage shows Kitchen warning staff to stay back before he rifled through a window display and stole a Rolex watch.

At a trial in February 2018, both men were found guilty of carrying out the ram raid robbery.

West Yorkshire Police has just announced that they have also just been sentenced for their roles in a prolific gang,  who stole £1.5 million pounds worth of goods by targeting lorry drivers across the country.

Enquiries identified that a number of different vehicles that were variously linked to the members of the gang were making regular overnight journeys to other parts of the country including Thames Valley, Northamptonshire, the West Midlands, Staffordshire, Greater Manchester, Durham, Hampshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire.

Checks with the relevant police forces in those areas found that many of the overnight journeys coincided with thefts from heavy goods vehicles.
