Ralf Rangnick has lavished praise on Cristiano Ronaldo's work rate after Manchester United's win on Sunday.
Rangnick's philosophy is underpinned by pressing and there were doubts over what his arrival could mean for Ronaldo.
Ronaldo has faced criticism regarding his work rate by some pundits in the media despite having scored 12 goals in 18 appearances this season, not to mention that the forward has often found the back of the net in decisive moments in important games.
The 36-year-old failed to score against Crystal Palace on Sunday but Rangnick was impressed by his work off the ball.
"These are the things we must improve," Rangnick admitted to the BBC, reflecting on the game.
"We need to keep clean sheets. With just the one training session, I was really impressed. We did much better than expected.
"We always tried to be on the front foot. We were never not apart from maybe the last five minutes. At all other times we were trying to keep them away from our goal. We wanted to play with two strikers, especially in the central position.
"By the way, Cristiano Ronaldo's work off the ball, chapeau."
