Ralf Rangnick has been appointed as Manchester United 's new interim manager according to a report.
The Old Trafford side had been looking for a new boss since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was dismissed earlier this month.
They handed the reins to Michael Carrick while they looked for a new interim boss until the end of the season.
But The Athletic report that German football legend Ragnick, currently in work at Lokomotiv Moscow, will be given the role.
It's said he has penned a six month deal until the end of the season, before moving onto a two-year 'consultancy' contract - wherein he will likely become the club's new sporting director.
Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane and PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino remain the frontrunners for the next permanent manager
But Rangnick and his big picture thinking may be a hit in Manchester with six months to prove his worth.
Ragnick won't be able to take charge of this weekend's clash with Chelsea due to work permit reasons so Michael Carrick will lead the team against the Premier League leaders.
The German is known for his all-encompassing style of management, having famously served as RB Leipzig manager and sporting director at the same time.
In recent years he has mostly worked in behind-the-scenes roles and penned a three-year deal as Manager of Sports and Development at Lokomotiv Moscow in May.
But he will now return to top-level management as he takes the reins at Old Trafford.
