Rakesh Jhunjhunwala-backed Akasa Air unveils aircraft livery

NEW DELHI: Billionaire investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala's airline Akasa Air on Wednesday unveiled its aircraft livery and tagline.

In an official release, the airline unveiled the tagline 'It's Your Sky' and said that it symbolises a a powerful pledge of ownership, promise, and possibilities that accompany each traveller on their journeys, regardless of their socio-economic or cultural backgrounds.

Inspired by elements from the sky, the aircraft livery will have a 'rising A' symbol on it in purple and orange colour.

"It symbolises the warmth of the rising sun, the effortless flight of a bird and the dependability of an aircraft wing," it added.

In October, the airline had received aviation ministry's no objection certificate (NOC) which made it eligible to apply for air operator permit from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

The airline hopes to start operations by summer of 2022.

It had recently placed an order for 72 Boeing 737 Max at the Dubai air show. The deliveries are expected to begin next year.

The proposed ultra low cost carrier (LCC) is piloted by aviation veteran Vinay Dube, who is its CEO.
