Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag has been fined for using a vape inside the team’s dressing room.
Parag was picked up on TV coverage of the Indian Premier League clash against Punjab Kings and has been penalised 25 per cent of his match fee.
The 24-year-old was found to have breached article 2.21 of the IPL’s code of conduct, which relates to conduct that brings the game into disrepute.
A statement from the IPL said: “Riyan admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction imposed by the match referee, Amit Sharma.
“The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is also exploring other options to initiate proceedings for stringent action against the erring team, its officials and player/s to ensure that the reputation of IPL remains intact.”
Parag has been capped 10 times by India at international level, all in white-ball cricket. His side sit fourth in the IPL table and take on the Delhi Capitals on Friday.
