Raiders TE Darren Waller quickly becoming one of league’s top tight ends

In Week 3, the Raiders suffered another tough loss, falling to the Vikings 34-14. For the most part, it was a blow-out and not a competitive contest for most of the day. But the one bright spot for Oakland was their new starting tight end, Darren Waller.

After two solid performances in the first two weeks of the season, Waller finally had the breakout performance of his career. He finished the game with 13 receptions for 134 yards, making plays all of the field. Take a look at his receiving chart via the NFL’s Next Gen Stats:

While the Raiders’ offense is struggling, Waller is quickly establishing himself as one of the best tight ends in the NFL. Through three weeks, no tight end has more receiving yards than Waller (267). His Week 3 performance was the best for a tight end this season, and he only should grow as a player.

Oakland needs to do a lot to fix their offense over the next several weeks, but they should rest easy knowing they have one of the most dynamic tight ends in all of football. If Waller continues at this pace, he will be a lock to make his first Pro Bowl of his career.
