Raiders SS Johnathan Abram (shoulder) to miss rest of 2019 season

The Oakland Raiders won their first game of the 2019 season on Monday night, but it came at a steep cost.

Safety Johnathan Abram, who the team selected with the No. 27 pick in this year’s draft, tore his rotator cuff and labrum. Both injuries will require surgery, and he will miss the remainder of the season, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Abram started in Week 1 and tallied five total tackles and one pass deflection. It is expected that Karl Joseph will take his place as a starter for the remainder of the season.
