Raiders QB Derek Carr to play on Thursday night against Cardinals

While the Raiders will still be without star receiver Antonio Brown on Thursday night, it appears the rest of the first-string offense will see the field when they take on the Cardinals on ESPN. That includes Derek Carr, who will see his first action of the preseason, according to head coach Jon Gruden.

Carr isn’t expected to play more than a few series, but it will be fascinating to see how he performs in this new-look offense. Look for him to stay in the game only when his starting offensive line, including the likes of Trent Brown and Richie Incognito, are on the field.

Without Brown and Darren Waller, both who are missing due to injuries, who will Carr favor in the passing game? Could it be Tyrell Williams, who the team paid handsomely in the offseason? Or will it be slot-demon Hunter Renfrow, who continues to embarrass defenders on the practice field? Thursday should give us a sneak peek at what Oakland’s offense could look like in 2019.
