Raiders PK Daniel Carlson named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week once again

It’s the third time this season that Daniel Carlson has been recognized by the NFL due to his clutch kicking. On Wednesday, the league announced that Carlson had won the Week 17 AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Carlson made his fourth game-winning field goal in Week 17, helping the Raiders defeat the Cardinals and stay alive in the AFC Wild Card hunt. He made all three of his field goals against Indianapolis (33, 44, 47).

Carlson has made 92.1% of his field goals this season and has a career make percentage of 88.8% with the Raiders. However, he’s been even better over the last two seasons, making 68 of 73 field goals with the Silver and Black.

Carlson has quickly established himself as one of the league’s best and most reliable kickers. He also has one of the NFL’s strongest legs, making nine of ten field goals beyond 50 yards over the last two seasons.

Without Carlson, the Raiders wouldn’t even be close to the playoffs. But with him, they have a chance in every single game as he can make every single clutch kick. That’s a pretty nice weapon to have in your arsenal.
