Raiders GM Mike Mayock: Antonio Brown needs to be ‘all-in or all-out’ now

Antonio Brown is still not happy with his helmet situation under the NFL’s new rules requiring him to wear a different model than what he’s worn in past seasons.

The Oakland Raiders’ preferred helmet is no longer legal, and ProFootballTalk reported Saturday that the NFL is closing the loophole that would have allowed Brown to wear the helmet he wants. And in response to that, Brown tweeted: “Super Prejudice unbelievable!”

Obviously still upset about the helmet situation, Brown did not show up to practice Sunday, according to Raiders general manager Mike Mayock, who made a statement about this fiasco and seems like he’s giving the wide receiver an ultimatum.

Mayock spoke to reporters during Sunday’s practice and briefly addressed the situation:

“You all know that AB is not here today, right? So here’s the bottom line: He’s upset about the helmet issue. We have supported that. We appreciate that, OK? But at this point, we’ve pretty much exhausted all avenues of relief.

“So from our prospective, it’s time for him to be all-in or all-out, OK? So we’re hoping he’s back soon. We’ve got 89 guys busting their tails. We are really excited about where this franchise is going, and we hope AB is going to be a big part of it, starting Week 1 against Denver. End of story. No questions.”

We’ll see what happens next.

Thursday after the Raiders’ preseason win over the Cardinals, Brown denied reports that he is willing to retire if he can’t wear the helmet he wants.
