Raiders address right tackle in Todd McShay’s first 2023 mock draft

After picking in the first round six times over the last three years, the Raiders did not have a top 32 pick in this year’s draft. They didn’t even have a top 85 selection as they traded their first two picks for Davante Adams. But the Raiders have their full assortment of picks for the 2023 draft, so we have that to look forward to.

What position might the Raiders be looking to upgrade in next year’s draft? In his first mock draft of the year, Todd McShay of ESPN gave the Raiders offensive tackle Peter Skoronski from Northwestern at No. 13. Here is why he believes he could be a strong fit in Las Vegas:

“Skoronski already has a lot of experience (21 starts), and the 6-foot-4, 294-pound lineman has the makings of a future franchise tackle, as long as he tacks on more weight. Las Vegas needs another bookend for the line opposite Kolton Miller.”

The Raiders did take Alex Leatherwood at No. 17 in 2020, but the jury is still out on what his best position is in the NFL. The hope is that he can develop into their long-term answer at right tackle or else the Raiders will need to make a pick like this next year.

But keep an eye on Skoronski during the 2022 college football season, as he could be a target for the Raiders in the first round. He is widely regarded as one of the best offensive tackle prospects in this upcoming class and could be a top-15 selection by April 2023.
