Raheem Mostert not concerned after leaving divisional playoff with calf injury

There was a small ripple of concern on the injury front for the 49ers in the waning minutes of their 27-10 divisional playoff win over the Vikings. Running back Raheem Mostert was listed as questionable with a calf injury late in the game.

Mostert was the team’s leading rusher and one of their best players on special teams. An injury to him would be a significant blow in two facets for the 49ers. He was their leading special teams tackler, and racked up 772 rushing yards on just 137 carries while picking up a rushing touchdown in each of the final six games.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan said after the game it was a cramp for Mostert that the team would continue to monitor. ESPN’s Nick Wagoner talked to the running back and got further confirmation that Mostert avoided a major injury.

Mostert racked up 58 rushing yards on 12 carries in his playoff debut. He also recovered a fumble on a muffed punt.

Tevin Coleman’s re-emergence would’ve made missing Mostert a little easier, but the explosive element he brings in the run game gives San Francisco a home-run threat every time he touches the ball.

It’ll be worth watching to see if Mostert misses any time during the week, but it sounds like he’s on track to be healthy for the NFC championship, which is the best-case scenario for San Francisco.
