Rafael Leao release clause revealed as 'Premier League interest intensifies'

Rafael Leao will leave AC Milan this summer, after the winger confirmed his intention to depart the San Siro.

The Portuguese posted a farewell message on social media to Milan, signalling his desire for a new challenge.

The forward is still contracted with the Serie A club until 2028, but it is now believed that he will leave for a cut price.

Reports in Italy say that Leao has a €175million release clause in his contract, but after a season of irregular first-team minutes for the Rossoneri, there is no way that Milan get anywhere near that figure.

Leao, 26, is thought to have admirers from England’s top division, with Manchester United in the running for his signature.

Leao could be avaiable now for a fee of between €50m and €60m, and that could put other top sides on red alert.

Leao is seeking an exit after Milan missed out on qualifying for the Champions League, finishing fifth in the Italian top flight.

It cost manager Massimiliano Allegri his job, with the Rossneri dropping out of the top four on the final day of the campaign.

They were beaten at home 2-1 by Cagliari, allowing Cesc Fabregas’ Como to swoop in at the last.

This term, the Portugal international has scored 10 goals in 31 games across all competitions.

He will play for his country at this summer’s World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States, vying with the likes of Francisco Trincao, Joao Felix, and Chelsea’s Pedro Neto for a place on the left flank.
