Radical restaurant and takeaway plans for Ayrshire pub as proposals for flats are also submitted

One of Irvine's most famous pubs could be set for an incredible transformation.

Plans have been submitted to remodel the whole of The Burns Tavern to serve a number of purposes.

The ground floor of the High Street public house will become a restaurant with a takeaway, if North Ayrshire Council give the go ahead.

And blueprints show the first floor would house four flats with the second floor accommodating a studio flat alongside another two residences.

Proposals submitted by Mohammed Akhtar would see the first floor restaurant, nightclub and bar all scrapped for the new homes above the restaurant.

North Ayrshire Council planners will rule on the new plans at a future date.
