Qatar Airways launches ‘Fast Pass’ – everything you need to know about facial recognition system

  • Qatar Airways has launched "Fast Pass", a new facial recognition system at Hamad International Airport in Doha .
  • The system allows passengers to use their face as a boarding pass for self-boarding, airport security gates and self-service bag drop.
  • Passengers can activate Fast Pass through the Qatar Airways app or at self-service airport kiosks, linking their biometrics to their journey details.
  • Data collected for Fast Pass is deleted 24 hours after the passenger's flight departs, and participation in the system is optional.
  • While currently exclusive to Qatar Airways flights from Hamad International, the airport said it will look into partnering with other airlines in the future to roll out the technology for more passengers.
