Pushpa 2: The Rule box office collection Day 5: Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna starrer sees big drop in numbers on Monday; misses Rs 600 crore net mark

Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna's highly anticipated film Pushpa 2: The Rule witnessed a significant drop in its box office earnings on its fifth day, Monday. The film, which ended its opening weekend with a staggering Rs 141.05 crore collection on Sunday, managed only Rs 64.10 crore across all languages in India on Monday, according to early estimates.

The Hindi version of the film remained the highest grosser on Monday, contributing Rs 46 crore. The Telugu version added Rs 14 crore, while the Tamil version brought in Rs 3 crore. The Kannada and Malayalam versions earned Rs 50 lakh and Rs 60 lakh, respectively.

Sacnilk reports that the film faced a huge 54% drop in numbers on its first Monday. The significant drop in numbers has been linked to the overall drop in footfalls which went from 80% to an estimated 47% for Hindi screenings. While the morning shows began with around 23% occupancy, the night shows saw a decent 53% occupancy. A similar drop was observed for the Telugu screenings which reported an estimated 42.24% footfalls. Meanwhile, the Tamil screenings saw 25.90% footfalls and Kannada reported the least with 22.53%.

As of Monday, Pushpa 2 has amassed a total India net collection of approximately Rs 593.1 crore. The Hindi version leads with Rs 331.7 crore, followed by the Telugu version at Rs 211.7 crore. Meanwhile, the Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam versions contributed Rs 34.45 crore, Rs 4.05 crore, and Rs 11.2 crore, respectively.

Despite the Monday slowdown, Pushpa 2 has shattered records globally. The film earned Rs 829 crore in worldwide gross collections over its opening weekend, becoming the fastest Indian film to cross the Rs 800 crore milestone, as per production house Mythri Movie Makers. The studio announced the figures on their official X (formerly Twitter) account, calling it the "biggest wildfire at the box office."

"BIGGEST INDIAN FILM is the BIGGEST WILDFIRE AT THE BOX OFFICE. #Pushpa2TheRule becomes the FASTEST INDIAN FILM to cross 800 CRORES Gross worldwide with a 4-day collection of 829 CRORES. RULING IN CINEMAS," the post read.

The film opened with a historic gross collection of Rs 294 crore on its first day, surpassing previous records set by SS Rajamouli’s RRR (Rs 223.5 crore), Baahubali 2 (Rs 217 crore), and Kalki 2898 AD (Rs 175 crore). In its Hindi dubbed version, Pushpa 2 achieved a record-breaking net collection of Rs 72 crore on day one, overtaking the opening day earnings of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan (Rs 65 crore for its Hindi version).

According to sacnilk, following Monday's performance, the film now boasts a total earning of Rs 880 crore at the worldwide box office. If the film keeps up its pace, it is likely set to make it past the Rs 1000 crore mark by the end of the week.

Reports on Venkyboxoffice state that the film which earned an estimated $9.3 million at the North America box office, saw collections rise to an estimated $9.7 million on its first Monday. The Hindi version of the film is reportedly raking in a major portion of the box office total, followed by the Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam versions.

Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2: The Rule is the sequel to the 2021 hit Pushpa: The Rise which features Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil alongside Allu Arjun.
