Puppy shows guilty face after Christmas tree pulled down while owner is out

A Labrador puppy got carried away with his first experience of Christmas and wanted to inspect the brand new Christmas tree in the lounge – but only when he was home alone.

Owner Kerri-Anne Mair, from Aviemore, Scotland, left her mischievous pup Loki alone for just one hour, but she didn’t expect to come home to quite such chaos.

Kerri-Anne decided to put her Christmas tree up earlier than usual after moving into her new home, but her five-month-old Labrador managed to pull down the entire Christmas tree and scatter it around the room.

When she arrived home, she was shocked to find her beautiful tree no longer standing in all its glory. She filmed the chaotic aftermath and a very guilty-looking pup at the end.

Kerri-Anne said: “He’s a very lazy puppy but when he’s hyper, he’s mad. I have what I call ‘the Loki Cam’ to keep an eye on him. But this one time I left him alone for not even an hour and I saw my tree on the floor.

“It wasn’t until I got home I realised the extent of how bad it was.”

It took Kerri-Anne three hours to decorate but she couldn’t stay mad at the apologetic pup.

Kerri-Anne, 27, said: “I was hoping while I was at home I could drum it into his head so he wouldn't go near it. He’s one of the best behaved and smartest puppies I have ever come across, other than the Christmas tree incident.”

The footage shows a sad looking tree on the floor with the top part completely detached from the rest, with a string of lights trailing behind. And by Loki’s reaction, you can tell he’s a very sorry puppy.

Kerri-Anne, who is a manager at a property maintenance company, says she felt so upset at first to see it destroyed.

She said: “After posting it on social media and seeing everyone laugh, I find it funny now but not while I was cleaning it up. Obviously I couldn’t stay mad at him.”

One Facebook user said: “But that waggy tail – and you have named him for the god of mischief after all.” Another agreed saying: “Haha he's summing up his name nicely!”

Someone else said: “Just confirmed my umming and ahhhing about whether to put one up this year.”

Kerri-Anne said: “It’s his first Christmas so I was a bit wary as it was but I couldn’t not have my tree up for our first Christmas together.

“Second time lucky!”
