Punjab to launch ‘Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna’ from July 1, offering monthly financial aid to women, check registration details

The Punjab government is set to roll out monthly financial support for eligible women under the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna starting July 1. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann reviewed the preparedness for implementing the scheme, describing it as a key welfare initiative to boost women’s financial independence and participation in the economy.

Financial Assistance Details

Under the scheme, eligible women will receive ₹1,000 per month, while women from Scheduled Caste communities will be provided ₹1,500 monthly. The funds will be transferred directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

Budget Allocation and Coverage

The state government has allocated ₹9,300 crore for the programme. According to officials, nearly 97% of Punjab’s women population is expected to benefit from this large-scale initiative.

Focus on Dignity and Empowerment

Highlighting the broader social impact, Mann said the financial aid is not meant to make women wealthy but to strengthen their self-respect. He stressed that economic empowerment of women contributes to better household welfare, gender equality, and greater involvement in decision-making processes.

Enrollment for the scheme has already begun across Punjab, with lakhs of women signing up daily. Around two lakh Mahila Satkar Sakhis have been deployed to assist with registrations. Women can enroll through Anganwadi centres, Sewa Kendras, and other designated facilities.

Driving Confidence and Independence

The Chief Minister reiterated that the scheme would significantly contribute to empowering women, enabling them to live with greater confidence, independence, and dignity.
