MOHALI: As many as 50 boxes of liquor illegally stored in a shop was seized in Derabassi on Tuesday. The liquor was worth Rs 4.20 lakh.
Swati Tiwana, SDM-cum-returning officer, Derabassi assembly constituency, that after the authorities got a complaint, an excise team along with cops reached the place.
A search yielded 50 cases of Royal Challenge whisky (for sale in Haryana only) was seized. Tiwana said the shop belonged to one Jaspreet Singh.
In another haul, Zirakpur police arrested two accused after 24 bottle of illicit liquor were allegedly recovered from them.
The accused are Prem Singh and Jagtar Singh, said Zirakpur SHO inspector Onkar Singh Brar. While Prem Singh was caught with nine bottles of liquor for sale in Chandigarh, Jagtar was nabbed with 15 bottles of liquor meant for sale in Chandigarh.
Both were arrested under excise act but later released on bail
