Marvel series The Punisher recently returned with Jon Bernthal as the titular antihero, after seven years away from our screens. However, his comeback was somewhat overshadowed by some questionable CGI.
The Punisher series, which aired on Netflix from 2017 until 2019, was revived on Tuesday (12 May) by Disney+, with the streamer releasing a final special starring Bernthal as Frank Castle, aka The Punisher.
However, fans streaming The Punisher: One Last Kill have spotted an unfortunate blunder during a fight scene in which Frank is thrown off a building and lands on a large metal air vent.
As he flies through the air, a computer-generated version of Bernthal is seen landing on the crumpling structure before the real actor gets back on his feet.

The jarring scene has spread across social media, with some viewers speculating that the show’s editors forgot to tidy up the graphics.
“They really left an unfinished VFX shot in #Punisher LOL,” one fan wrote. Another said: “I can’t believe this is a real scene from The Punisher: One Last Kill.”
While a third said it was “one of the worst CGI animations” they had seen in years. “How is it possible that Jon Bernthal turns into a PS4 grathics replica of Joel Miller from The Last of Us?! Wtf is Disney doing?”
The Independent has reached out to Disney for comment.

The new special sees Frank, who previously gave up his vigilante antics, become Punisher once again after being targeted by crime lord Ma Gnucci (Judith Light).
The original series, which saw the former marine seek revenge for the deaths of his family, was released on Netflix before being cancelled in 2019. The streamer lost the rights to The Punisher when Disney regained the license for Marvel titles.
Bernthal reprised the popular role in Disney+ superhero drama Daredevil: Born Again last year before returning for his own special, released on Tuesday.
He’s set to play the Marvel character once again in Spider-Man: Brand New Day – the forthcoming film in the Spider-Man franchise starring Tom Holland and Zendaya.
The Punisher: One Last Kill set a record for Marvel Studios by becoming its longest special yet, with a runtime of 60 minutes. The superhero franchise released two specials in 2022: Werewolf by Night, which runs for 53 minutes, and the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which is 42 minutes long.
It’s not the only Disney+ special Bernthal has popped up in this month: the actor also starred in a surprise prequel episode of The Bear as Carmy’s late brother Mikey.
The unexpected flashback special, released ahead of the drama’s fifth and final season, followed Mikey and Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they headed on a work trip to Gary, Indiana.
