PUNE: The parents of the 16-year-old girl, who was on Monday stabbed in her school at Wadgaonsheri by a stalker just a day before her Standard X Secondary School Certificate (SSC) board exam, are very worried about her academic loss and future.
On Tuesday, the girl’s father (45) told TOI over the phone, “We are anxious about what will happen with her exams now. We hope the situation gets better for us soon.”
Earlier, Maharashtra state women’s commission chairperson Rupali Chakankar had visited the girl to enquire about her health, where she spoke with the child’s father.
“Chakankar spoke to my daughter and promised us that she will speak with different government authorities, requesting them to conduct a special examination for my daughter soon,” the father said, adding, “If this gets sorted out, we will be very happy. My daughter has studied hard over the last one year for her board examination and she is good at her studies.”
He added, “Due to blood loss, she is feeling uneasy and unable to speak as of now.”
Meanwhile, the 22-year-old stalker, who tried to end his life by stabbing himself and consuming poison, was shifted to Sassoon General Hospitals from a private hospital for further treatment on Tuesday. “We are yet to record his statement and take legal action against him. We will arrest him after he is discharged,” assistant police inspector (API) Sameer Karpe of the Yerawada police told TOI.
A case has been registered under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Chakankar said, “We are thinking about how to assist the SSC student, so that she can appear for her examination from the hospital. We can arrange a writer for her and she can narrate answers to the writer.”
