PUNE: The Lonikand police are on the lookout for an unidentified man, who duped a 38-year-old housewife of Rs45,500 under the garb of a policeman. The incident took place at Lonikand bus stop at 4.30pm on Saturday.

The woman, who works as a domestic help, lodged a complaint with the police later that same night.

Sub-inspector Deepak Jadhav of the Lonikand police said, "The man, who was riding a motorcycle, posed as a constable and informed the woman that the police had taken her son to the police station for an inquiry. He asked for her cellphone, gold jewellery, and cash, collectively worth Rs45,500, to pay off officers involved."

The woman realised that she had been duped when she found her son at their home later.
