PUNE: A motorcyclist died while another person, riding a pillion, suffered injuries after a three-wheeler hit their bike in front of Ambedkar Garden on BT Shrike Road in Mundhwa on the night of July 22.
The victim, Shrikant alias Saurabh Gaikwad (25) of Bundgarden Road, succumbed to serious injuries during treatment at a private hospital on Sunday. The pillion, Somesh Mhaske (26) of Mundhwa, was discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment for injuries to his head, back and legs.
Sub-inspector Shivaji Kate of the Mundhwa police on Monday said, “The duo were on their way to Mundhwa after attending a party when a tempo collided head-on with the bike around 10.30pm.”
Kate said, “The Sassoon General Hospital in its advance postmortem report cited multiple injuries as the cause of Gaikwad’s death. The tempo driver fled the spot without intimating the incident to police.”
