Pundits slate unusual Manchester City third kit following fan backlash

Manchester City released their third kit on Wednesday evening and it has since been slammed by talkSPORT host Alan Brazil and pundits Ally McCoist and Dean Ashton.

In a truly different style to anything seen before, City's third kit which is navy blue, features no club crest and has 'Man City' emblazed across the front of it with the 'Etihad Airways' sponsorship underneath.

Produced by leading kit manufacture Puma, the shirt copies designs that have been produced by the sportswear brand for other clubs, including AC Milan and Valencia.

As well as featuring the club's name across the chest and the Puma logo positioned centrally above it, the City crest in its usual colour form has been moved to the back of the neck, while the front of the shirt has a design of the crest subtly and repeatedly stamped across the torso area.

Whilst a whole host of City supporters criticised the shirt once it was unveiled, it has also not been well received by former players and now pundits either.

That is because, speaking on talkSPORT on Thursday morning, it was criticised by host Brazil and pundits McCoist and Ashton.

Opening the dialogue about the controversial strip, Brazil said: "Ally, have you seen Man City's new third kit? That cannot be true."

McCoist replied saying: "That cannot be right, that. It cannot be right. There is no badge on it."

Brazil then responded and took the conversation in Ashton's direction: "It's just a t-shirt. There's no thought what so ever that has gone into that, is there? What do you reckon Dean?"

Ashton commented: "It looks like a replica, doesn't it?"

Brazil then echoed McCoist's main bone of contention, criticising the design for not featuring a traditional club crest on the front of it.

He said: "There is no badge. I can't see a badge!"
