Trevor Sinclair has hailed Chelsea manager Frank Lampard since he took over the reigns at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have won five of their nine Premier League matches under Lambert and they are just two points off Man City in second place.
The ex-England international has now praised Chelsea’s all-time top goalscorer with what he has achieved so far with the young squad at his disposal.
He told talkSPORT: “Something really special is happening.
"I’ve been really impressed how they have got over that 4-0 early season defeat to Manchester United.
“If you can’t be excited about what's going on at Chelsea as a Chelsea fan now there’s something wrong!
“I’m buzzing they’ve got it right.”
The former winger also took note of the work assistant coach Jody Morris has done in the youth setup, with some of Chelsea’s better performers being academy graduates this season.
He added: “The job at the time, probably didn’t get the praise it deserved, the job that Jody Morris done with that youth team leading that group of players who are all now 23, 24.
“These players were academy players, youth team players.
“They’ve gone off and got experience elsewhere, and coming back and working for them two (former) players (Frank Lampard and Jody Morris) that have got so much connection with the football club, I think it’s an absolutely fantastic story.”
