Pundit makes 'bold' transfer prediction after Nottingham Forest move

Former Everton winger Kevin Kilbane believes sealing Richie Laryea's three-and-a-half-year deal is "huge" for Nottingham Forest.

Laryea became Forest's third signing of the January transfer window, joining from Canadian side Toronto FC where he spent three seasons.

The bright prospect was one of the most highly-rated defenders for Bob Bradley's side in the MLS last campaign.

Predominantly a right-back, the Canada international is able to play on the opposite flank and as a winger.

Meanwhile, Kilbane believes the 27-year-old has chosen the right club to begin his European career.

"It’s a great move, it’s a huge club," he told TSN Sports.

"It will be a lot of games for him to take on. It’s a great quality league and he’s going to one of the best clubs in English football.

"He will go to every Canada camp as a better player and I think he will grow.

"I commend him. He could have seen his career out at Toronto but instead, he’s taken the bold step of moving to the Championship and to Nottingham Forest."

In his 85 appearances for the Canadian side, Laryea netted seven times and provided 11 assists along the way.
