Public relations official resigns from the Department of Veterans Affairs

Trump appointee John Ullyot resigned on Thursday after 2 years in his post as assistant secretary for public and intergovernmental affairs at the Department of Veterans Affairs, reports CNN.

Driving the news: Ullyot found himself in hot water last December after controversial emails surfaced in which he recommended the VA's former chief diversity officer post a tame disapproval of white supremacists involved in the August 2018 Charleston, Virginia rally.

What's next: Ullyot, who will officially exit in April, is expected to reveal "an exciting new position shortly," according to an email obtained by CNN.
