Pub landlady responds to customer's one-star review with hilarious 'man-eater' quip

A pub landlady has issued a brilliant response to a customer who left a one-star review accusing her of flirting with customers. Georgina Smith, who owns The Black Horse boozer in Stoke-on-Trent, was left shocked by one customer's TripAdvisor review giving just one star.

The pub-goer, despite claiming the food was 'very good', urged fellow customers to keep their significant others close by when visiting the quiet hostelry in the village of Endon, reports Stoke-on-Trent Live.

However Georgina, a 49-year-old former NHS worker, took the accusation in her stride by issuing a spot-on comeback to the aggrieved diner after she took over the pub from the previous owners last month.

In the review, the customer wrote: "This pub used to be fantastic and I visited regularly. However, to my shock there is now new management in place. Whilst the food was very good, my advice to any females visiting with a partner: keep him close by as the management don't mind someone else's partner."

The bold landlady called out the review and claimed she was no 'man eater'.

Georgina wrote: "What a sad world we live in. I am no man eater, they could have given better marks if the food was so good."

In a second post, she added: "Thank you for all the support over the past few days. Business as normal (no man eating I promise). See you all very soon."

The pub has a top track record when it comes to delivering service, with 235 reviews being branded as 'excellent'. The boozer's Facebook page also shared articles about the experience with the caption: "Well I never expected this but will take it."

One customer responded with: "Yes - great night - fab atmosphere - place was buzzing and so many great vibes with the music and conversation and food. Undoubtedly our Gina knows what she’s doing."

Another added: "In last night for food, very nice, good quality, good portion sizes, staff friendly, band was very good, first time in under new owners and it was packed not seen it this busy in years, keep up the good work Gina, ignore the haters thanks defo be back."
